Abstract
Objective: The aim was to examine the characteristics and role of artillery in future wars and analyze the impact of emerging technologies on its effectiveness.
Methods: This research is applied in nature, and the method used is descriptive. Data and information were collected through library research, and the tool for gathering qualitative data was the meta-synthesis of documents and records.
Findings: The content analysis yielded 90 codes related to future wars and 20 codes related to artillery in future wars, which were classified into 12 and 4 themes, respectively.
Conclusions: The developments in artillery in the 21st century indicate a transition from a traditional system to an advanced and intelligent system. This transformation has been shaped by the utilization of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, guided munitions, and automated fire control systems. One of the most significant changes is the increased accuracy and range of artillery, which has transformed it from a tactical tool to a strategic weapon. Capabilities like “shoot and move” in self-propelled guns enable faster response and greater survivability on the battlefield. Additionally, the shift from traditional area bombardment to precise targeting has revolutionized the operational efficiency of artillery
