Roadmap for theorizing and producing science in the defense-security field

Abstract
Objective: The flow of theorizing and producing science is considered the driving force of national power. The defense-security field is also one of the important pillars of national power. This field is inevitably involved in the realm of science for development, gaining a competitive advantage, and securing the country's national goals and interests. Therefore, the purpose of the present study is to present a roadmap for theorizing and producing science in the defense-security field.
Methodology: This applied study uses a mixed approach and the case-contextual method. The data were collected through field and library methods and analyzed using qualitative content analysis techniques and SPSS statistical software. This research focuses on the literature on theorizing and producing science, and a questionnaire was distributed among 50 experts from armed forces organizations who were selected selectively.
Findings: The roadmap for theorizing and producing science in the defense-security field consists of three layers: infrastructure, trends, drivers, and goals, which are completely interconnected. Thus, the first layer has 10 infrastructures, the second layer has 19 trends and drivers, and the third layer has 6 goals.
Conclusion: The presented roadmap can guide action and executive decisions by commanders, managers, and those in charge of scientific and educational affairs in the armed forces. This will enable them to use the collected findings as the outlines for annual goals and programs, paving the way for exiting the period of scientific dependence, achieving scientific independence, and ultimately gaining scientific authority
