Abstract
Objective: Combining environmental design principles with internal defense approaches aids in crime prevention and threat management. This research investigates the role of environmental architecture in enhancing homeland defense and crime prevention in Tabriz using the CPTED model.
Methods: This applied study utilized a descriptive-analytical method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Convenience sampling was employed, and statistical methods, including descriptive analysis, correlation, and Friedman test, were used to rank the indicators.
Findings: The average indicators of territory, supervision, activity support and image management for faculty members were 50/15, 46/48, 67/67 and 67/08 respectively, for doctoral students 42/01, 42/78, 64/13 and 67/70 respectively, and for the police force 47/76, 51/28, 70/98 and 62/50 respectively. Also, the researchers' observations were recorded as 43/, 29/46, 75 and 68/75 respectively.
Conclusions: Environmental design, internal security, and crime prevention are interconnected. Public and private spaces must enhance safety and safeguard people and resources from threats.
